Let It Rain

If you’re in the middle of a storm, embrace it. Wrap your arms around the tornado of circumstance.

We are told to praise God in the storm. How is that possible? It’s not an act of will. It’s an act of submission. You can praise God in the storm because in the storm there is nowhere else to turn for strength. The storm has wrecked it. The end of yourself, the place where you cannot fix anything, where you cannot hold anything together, is the closest you’ll come to seeing God act. In kicks up miraculous evidence of his presence by what he brings you through.

Praise God in the storm because if you can’t do anything to make it better, then you have to let it go.

If there is any remnant of hope that you can hold this together, then your own stamina and ability is your hope. That’s a devastating place to be. More devastating than this storm.

If there is no remnant of hope, then you are free to put all of your hope in God. With that result–all of your hope in God, exactly what he wants–is it possible that this storm was allowed for that very purpose?

Was this storm ordained to put you where God has wanted you all along? Let go of what is out of control and wrap your arms around the one who is in control. When the night of crashing lightning and roaring thunder turns into new morning with bright skies you’ll find yourself grasping who you should have been grasping all along.

The storm is for your good. Embrace it, thank God for it. Now, let go. You have to go through this alone, but we’ll all be there to see you in the morning.

I know there’ll be days when this life brings me pain, but if that’s what it takes to praise You, Jesus, bring the rain. -Bring the Rain; Mercy Me
